The agreement
Using GhostCopy means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it. We may update them as the product changes; material changes are announced in the app or by email before they take effect.
What to expect
GhostCopy is new. That is not boilerplate — it means three specific things you should plan around.
Features may change or be removed between versions, and data formats may change with them.
There is no uptime commitment. Sync can be interrupted, and a clip can fail to arrive.
There has been no independent security audit. Do not treat GhostCopy as the only copy of anything you cannot lose.
Your account
You are responsible for the credentials on your account and for the devices signed into it.
If you set a passphrase you are the only party who holds it. We cannot reset it, recover it, or decrypt your clips for you — including if you ask us to. Keep it somewhere you will still have it.
Acceptable use
Do not use GhostCopy to distribute malware, to store or move material that is unlawful where you are, to infringe someone else’s rights, or to attack the service — including attempting to reach other users’ data or to overwhelm the infrastructure.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Because encrypted clip content is unreadable to us, enforcement is necessarily based on reports and service‑level signals rather than on inspecting what you sent.
Licence
You get a personal, non‑exclusive, revocable licence to use the applications. The GhostCopy source is published under the MIT licence; those terms govern the code itself, and these terms govern the hosted service you connect it to. What you send through GhostCopy remains yours — we claim no rights over your content.
No warranty
GhostCopy is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non‑infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error free.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or lost business, arising from your use of GhostCopy. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and where a jurisdiction does not allow these exclusions they apply only as far as that jurisdiction permits.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law rules. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, except where the consumer protection law of your own place of residence gives you a right to bring a claim locally that cannot be contracted out of.
Ask first
If anything here is unclear, ask before agreeing to it.
